Inspired by Truly I am not inspired by just one person, but I gain skills from each person each day. My inspiration is my goals.

How did you get involved with the CCSAI Board of Directors?
When I started my career with Centennial College as a student I was inspired by all the work done by CCSAI. So I made up my mind to run for the elected position of Vice President at Progress Campus. Students liked my ideas that is why I got a big victory in elections.

What kind of fun events do you want to see next year?
The answer for this question totally depends on what type of event students want on their campuses. I will take suggestions from the students and make things happen.
What do you think is the biggest issue facing students?
I think the CCSAI is doing a great job, but nothing is perfect. There are some areas we can improve like the health plan, student advocacy, advertisement, scholarships, food bank and many more. We will work on these things with the cooperation of students.

How do you plan on engaging the student population?
I will put my full effort into engaging the student population. This will be my priority. Question arises how? First, I will organize events in which more students will be involved. Secondly, I think sport is a great way to involve more students, so I will plan sport events. Last but not least, clubs are the best way for students to get involved. I will encourage students to create or join different clubs so they will be able to organize a variety of students.

How did you get involved with the CCSAI Board of directors?

When I started my studies at Centennial College, I received some information about the CCSAI and the work done by the CCSAI. Then I made up my mind to join the CCSAI and students inspired me to run in the election.

What kind of fun events do you want to see next year?

The fun events I want to see next year depend on what type of events students want to see in the College. I will prefer to have events those students want.

What do you think is the biggest issue facing students?

According to me there is not any biggest issue facing students, but also we should try to improve some facilities like health, sports and events etc.

How do you plan on engaging the student population?

I will try to do my best to engage more students. I will try to organize games and events to engage students.

How did you get involved with the CCSAI Board of Directors?

I was a member of one of the clubs and through that experience I chose to get involved in the CCSAI.

What kind of fun events do you want to see next year?

Mainly I am eager to see prom night, cultural events, Garba night, Bhangra night, job fair, outside trips, as well as study related events which help students in their studies.

What do you think is the biggest issue facing students?

Mostly I heard the biggest issue for students are costs like printing fees, tuition fees, and during exams when they are feeling stress. For that we need to arrange events that can relieve stress and engage in fun activities. And here there are so many international students that feel lonely, so we need to make them familiar with the environment here.

How do you plan on engaging the student population?

I am planning to engage them in events like welcome parties, cultural events and mainly the clubs. So every student in the program they are enrolled in can get some useful information for their studies.

Hero Elon Musk, I just like his work ethic and how much stuff he really gets done – how he tries to benefit everybody.

How did you get involved with the CCSAI Board of Directors?

“I had just left my job managing a bar in Scarborough and I decided I wanted to do something that actually made a difference, not just doing something over and over managing bars. I wanted to learn, I wanted to grow and expand more. I really liked the SAC atmosphere and I really wanted to see how I could benefit it.”

“So, I ran into Ariadna, she was the vice president at the time last year, and she told me there was a position opening and I decided to apply. I sent in my resume, two days later I got a call – had an interview. I was really impressed by how seriously they took everything. I was expecting a classic one-on-one interview that you’re used to, but I walked into a full board and six people interviewing me. I was kind of nervous but it was a good experience and nice to see how serious they took things.”

What kind of fun events do you want to see next year?

“There are a lot of interesting people here — a lot of journalism students, photography students, animation students – I want to bring everyone together. Everyone’s doing their own thing in their own program but we talk to each other once in awhile by chance. My first thing as campus director is to have a concert here on the 13th of April and I want different people from different programs showcasing their talents. Get them talking, get them knowing each other a little bit. As time progresses I want to throw more events where all students get a chance to talk to other students and not be secluded to their program.”

“I want to keep the same beer tent events (the SAC) has ever year and continue to grow the environment and grow together as one instead of having separate pieces.

What do you think is the biggest issue facing students?

“I think students don’t know enough about the industries they’re going into it. Students don’t know exactly what they want, they just see a program and check off a box, go straight into school but they don’t know what they want to do. If students could meet their industry professionals, meet the people who are doing the jobs that they want to do, then they can really inspire them and give them a reason to actually engage in school rather than doing it because that’s what they think they have to do just to get a job. They’d be excited about a career they’d want to go into.

How do you plan on engaging the student population?

“Well, my first step is to get people into this (CCSAI) lounge more often. Everyone feels weird coming through that small single door into this lounge that nobody comes into. It’s kind of an awkward thing because you don’t really know what’s going on in here. I want to make this place a little louder, maybe have another TV or somewhere to play their music — and actually talk to each other.”

“Also, the events, I want to have a board in this student lounge where people can be like, ‘Okay I’m an animator and I can animate for your YouTube videos,’ and someone else could be like, “Yeah, I’m a videographer and I can shoot your video for you.” I think that’d be really cool.”

How did you get involved with the CCSAI board of directors?

Toni Ellul (Manager of Services) and my willingness to help people.

What kind of fun events do you want to see next year?

Bubble Sports/Inflatable Obstacle Course. Car smash, basically allowing the students to smash the life out of a car with a bat or sledge hammer.

What do you think is the biggest issue facing students?

Student apathy is a big issue. We want to get students to care about their Association and get involved.

How do you plan on engaging the student population?

Getting out there and talking to more and more students and raising the awareness of the CCSAI and our services.

Hero/ Inspired by My biggest inspiration is my parents and everyone around me through whom I get to learn something new every day.

How did you get involved with the CCSAI board of directors?

The Board of Directors is the pillar of the CCSAI. I got involved with them through many events held by the CCSAI at the college and knowing different services they provide to students.

What kind of fun events do you want to see next year?

Paintball; Fashion Shows depicting different cultures, raising awareness on critical issues; as seen on T.V and much more.

What do you think is the biggest issue facing students?

The biggest issue could be students approaching me for help with their personal problems. I will make sure to build constructive relationships with students and help to resolve their problems.

How do you plan on engaging the student population?

I will try to engage students by developing and maintaining effective administration processes. Also, I will try to make students participate at different events which could help them reduce their stress and assist them in their academic and non-academic concerns.

Inspired by creativity, dance, innovation, globalization and social issues. My inspiration lies in the hands of Arlene Dickinson, one of 5 judges on Dragon’s Den

How did you get involved with the CCSAI board of directors?

I got involved with the CCSAI by participating in activities and events around campus. I also visited the website often to ensure I was not missing any updates or any current job openings. I then saw the posting for various positions on the Board of Directors for next year 2016/2017, and I took a quick glance at their requirements and job specifications. I decided to apply for the Student Advocate position and I was called in for an interview. Here I am today!

What kind of fun events do you want to see next year?

Next year, I would like to see more on “the environment” events. Perhaps fun events that represent ideas, thoughts and perspectives from each student like a mural painting. In addition, since the College now has a Fashion Business Faculty, we can see more fashion shows with various themes or even a marketing competition around school with a final event. Lastly, more theme party events like Welcome to Paris in France: “The City of Love”. These are just some ideas that I’m throwing out there but I believe that with more diversity students will appreciate it.

What do you think is the biggest issue facing students?

I believe that the biggest issue facing many students these days is funding. The cost of education increases which makes it harder for students to attend any college. We are fortunate, those who can get themselves an education and graduate, to have the ability and the means to accomplish and reach higher objectives. Also, many current students work 2 part time jobs just to keep up with funding their own education. However, many bursaries and scholarships, not to mention OSAP, exists to aid students funding their education.

How do you plan on engaging the student population?

I plan on engaging with the students by participating in activities and events at the College. Also, volunteering and helping others in any way I can to achieve ultimate awareness of multiculturalism and diversity. These are values that Centennial College stands for and upholds its position in sustaining its cultural environment. Many innovative creations are born here, at Centennial, where students can feel free to express who they are, share their values and educate about their culture. I am available to participate in Research, Surveys, or even Analysis of any kind to provide my help to all students and accomplish their ultimate goals. Finally, being involved around the College to engage with the student population and improve acknowledgement of College procedures and policies is my ultimate goal!
