A year later, the exact same record.

The Centennial Colts men’s basketball team has once again started their season perfect after five games, just like they did last year.

The Colts’ latest victims were the St. Lawrence Vikings, who lost to Centennial by a score of 65-59 on Nov. 17.
The Colt controlled the action early and didn’t let up, leading 37-25 after the first half. The Colts also held a 15 point lead heading into the fourth quarter.

The Vikings were not willing to go without a fight, putting up 20 points in the fourth. The comeback was never completed though, and the Colts held on to go 5-0 on the season.

Five days earlier, the Colts took on a scrappy Fleming College team, beating them 69-56. Tissaine Brown led Centennial with 25 points including three three-pointers, while Jameel Williamson had 15 points with seven rebounds.

Their next game comes on Nov. 25 against the lowly Cambrian College, who have yet to win a game this season. Cambrian is currently on a 10 game losing streak and was 2-18 last season, after starting the year 0-10.

Lady Colts down Georgian

After starting the season 1-1, the Centennial Colts women’s basketball team had a tough challenge facing Georgian College Grizzlies in their home opener.

The Grizzlies got out to a great start, leading 17-10 after the first quartre. But it was all Colts after that, putting up 16 points in the second, 24 in the third and 17 in the fourth to take the game 67-48.

In their next game, the Colts lost a close decision to Fleming College, losing 71-68. While Centennial started slow, the girls put up 19 points in the second quartre to bring the score to 36-30 at the half. Trailing by ten points after the third, the Colts put up 25 points in the fourth to pull within three. But that was as close as they got, eventually losing the game to go 2-2 on the season.

After a Nov. 17 match with the St. Lawrence Vikings, the Colts are now 2-3 on the season.

Next game against Cambrian Game starts at 1:00 PM EST
