The Centennial Colts rolled into London, Ont. this past weekend for the Fanshawe invitational badminton tournament.
In the men’s singles, Kevin Ronkiewicz made to the second round in the main A draw while Jason Van, Aaron Chang, Jerry You, Danny Yiu, Varun Jayanth and Mark Borlongan all played in the B round.
The ladies singles had a great outing with most of the girls staying in the A draw. Sarah Nualan and Jia Yi went as far as the Quarter Finals, while Beelkie John lost in the second round to the eventual winner. Maria Shipulina took it all the way to the third round and Deki Tshering lost in the B round.
In the Men’s Doubles saw Ronkiewicz and Van took second place going down in the finals of the B draw.
The Ladies did well again with both teams of Nualan and Yi, John and Tshering both going as far as the semifinals in the A draw.
In the mix doubles, the team of Ronkiewicz and Nualan made it to the third round of the A draw, while Van and Yi, Jayanth and Shipulina were in the B draw. You, John, Chang and Tshering played in C draw.
“Overall it was a good show and effort by the team as this is a fairly young, new team,” coach Stephen Wong said.
